Thursday, 28 January 2010 The Moscow Nights/Golden Gates Ensemble sport richly embroidered and colorful costumes that add to the authenticity of the show which offers a glimpse into the Old Russian tradition. The group will perform at Peacock Playhouse Sunday, Feb. 7. Brasstown — The very popular music and dance ensembles Moscow Nights/Golden Gates return to the area in a concert presented by the Brasstown Concert Association (BCA) Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville, N.C.
The Moscow Nights and Golden Gates ensembles feature both traditional Russian music and dance in their colorful program, a highlight of BCA’s season. The repertoire offers a spirited and authentic glimpse into Old Russia through music, song and dance. Moscow Nights, a highly acclaimed musical trio, will play the balalaika, the bayan accordion and more obscure folk instruments such as the trashotky and loshky. Joining the trio and hailing from St. Petersburg, the Golden Gates troupe features dancers ranging in age from 13 to 19. The whimsical dances and folk songs combine in an exhilarating performance which appeals to audiences of all ages. Richly embroidered and colorful costumes add to the visual appeal.
This concert will include a brief video presentation of Russia, to be shown during intermission.

Moscow Nights and Golden Gates will appear at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville, on Feb. 7, at 2:30 p.m. Note the procedure for ticket reservations, which differs from the usual BCA concerts: As seating is limited it is strongly advised to reserve attendance for anyone wishing to attend. For season ticket holders, this performance is included but attendance must be confirmed to be assured of a seat. Priority for entrance will be given to season ticket holders only through Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. For any additional tickets or for those not holding season tickets, all tickets are $15. Reservations are for entrance only; seats are not reserved. Any remaining non-reserved tickets for the event may be purchased at the door on Sunday Feb. 7. Tickets will be available for pickup from 1:30 p.m. on the day of the performance. Payment is by cash or check only.
